Funding Opportunity for Agricultural & Resource Economics, Master of Science in Applied Economics: 
Exciting Hispanic-Serving Institution Serving Project 

Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AREC) at the University of Arizona (UA) is seeking to recruit two highly motivated students to its exceptional M.S. program, with project funding provided by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Education Program. The project aims to improve under-represented students access to agribusiness and data analytics education through a minor titled “Agribusiness Analytics” at the UA.  The two M.S. students recruited will assist Principal Investigators to develop the minor – working as Graduate Teaching Assistants. Selected M.S. students will receive a half-time teaching assistantship that includes an annual stipend of $18,000 plus a tuition waiver.  Students from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Cultural knowledge of U.S. Southwest is desirable but not necessary.  If interested in this opportunity, please mention it in the M.S. application.  

AREC master’s degree programs offer the applied economics training and hands-on experience in helping students become leaders in their chosen industries and professions. You will learn fundamentals of economic theory, public policy, development economics, econometrics, and data science. You will also learn to analyze market forces, understand the economic value of commodities and natural resources, and discern how economics influences policy decisions in both government and industry.  Our low student-to-faculty ratio provides graduate students with ample opportunities to work closely with our faculty and contribute to ongoing research projects. This is one of the reasons why our department was ranked 11th in the nation.  Interested candidates can apply for an M.S. with one of the two specializations offered (1) Applied Econometrics and Data Analytics or (2) Applied Economics and Policy Analysis.
