Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics, DE&I committee committee coordinates and steers department-wide efforts to promote and support diversity, equity, and inclusion. These initiatives include efforts to, but not limited to:
- Recruit and support a more diverse faculty, staff,and student body.
- Strengthen our capacity to mentor and support students of underrepresented background and identities.
- Improve the representativeness and inclusiveness in the agricultural and applied economics profession.
- Encourage and support activities and conversations that promote a safe and supportive environment for all members of our AREC community to work, learn, and succeed.
The Committee meets once a month during the Fall and Spring semesters, they do not convene during summer months. Meetings generally focus on identifying DEI issues in the department and on-campus, planning DEI activities such as guest lecturers and speakers, and pursuing funding for students.
