County Economies
As one of the fastest growing states in the country and with the majority of the state’s population in the urban centers of Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona is largely an urban state. Because of this, state-level statistics fail to capture the role of agriculture and the larger food system, outdoor recreation and tourism, and other natural resource based industries in local, rural economies throughout the state. The Extension Regional Economic Analysis Program (EREAP) conducts research and participates and in economic development projects relevant to Arizona’s rural county economies.
