Professor of the Day
Friday, April 1, Justin Brooks (B.S., 2011), Operations Expert at Amazon, was Professor of the Day in Gary Thompson’s AREC403, Marketing and Price Analysis class. Justin explained how analysis of Big Data drives every conceivable decision at Amazon fulfillment centers. Justin first started at Amazon five years ago managing a unit within a fulfillment center, ascended to be the manager of an entire fulfillment center’s operation to now working on a team that provides liaison between all fulfillment centers in North America and Amazon’s software developers. At every step of his career, data analytics has played an essential role in driving decisions that reduce costs and boost revenues.
Justin also met with members of the AREC Club that afternoon to talk about his job, the kinds of skills necessary for landing a job and succeeding at Amazon. Both undergraduate and graduate students found Justin’s insights and suggestions invaluable.
