AREC Welcomes Dan Scheitrum to Faculty

AREC is pleased to announce that Dan Scheitrum (Ph.D., UC Davis) will be joining the faculty. Dan holds a B.A. in economics/mathematics from UC Santa Barbara and an A.S. in computer science. He has also worked as an economic consultant.

Dan’s research examines commodities and commodity markets with a focus on crude oil and the interaction between energy and agriculture. At AREC and The University of Arizona, Dan will extend his doctoral research on the impact of fuels policies on conventional and alternative energy sources. Additionally, he plans to examine national and international commodity market issues including the impact of emissions regulations on livestock production and investigating agricultural hedging practices when facing idiosyncratic versus covariate risk.

Dan has experience instructing in commodity markets, agricultural policy, and econometrics. Here in AREC Dan will be teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in microeconomics, econometrics, and commodity markets.
